Live Traffic Updates now on Google Maps

While this feature has been available on the app for a long time now, the voice-enabled functionality will apparently work only on GPS-enabled devices, and not on those running Assisted GPS.

Traffic-related information can also be viewed on the site's desktop version. The info is supposedly updated in real time, with indictors telling you how free-flowing or slow-moving the traffic is in an area. To view the details, you'll have to enable the Traffic Layer from the drop-down at the top left of your maps screen.

As of now, the updates have been enabled for Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Pune. It's been pouring cats and dogs in Mumbai for the past few days, so these functions couldn't have come at a better time!
