GAVI
Little visited for very long and rightly so, Gavi is a forest station set inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve in the Vallakadavu forest Range, about 16 kilometres from Vallakadavu. Around Gavi, KFDC (Kerala Forest Development Corporation) owns huge tracts of land used for cardamom cultivation mainly. These large acreages were once owned by local planters and with the commissioning of the area under the Reserve forest, these plantations were acquired by the forest department and managed thereon by KFDC. There is an information centre and few rooms to spare for visitors to Gavi. A small lake and a pretty garden surrounded by tracts of plantation complete the picture. To stay at Gavi one would need to book very much in advance.

The whole area by nature of its location, that is, the buffer zone of the Tiger Reserve, is a great place to see wildlife. Indian Wild Gaurs, Elephants and many bird species can be commonly sighted around Gavi.

To reach Gavi you would need to take a deviation to your right, about a kilometre away from Vandiperiyar enroute to Kumily. The deviation would take you directly to Vallakadavu and therefrom through the forest to Gavi.

Sightseeing & Attractions

Walk around, mingle and feel the oneness with nature. Outskirts of Gavi will give you glimpses of certain rare species of animals like Nilgiri Tahr and Lion-tailed macaque, and birds like great pied hornbill, woodpecker, kingfishers, etc.
A short trek along the hill will take you to Sabarimala Ayyappan Temple, one of the most-visited Hindu pilgrimage centers of India.
Paradise Cove at Ninnumulli is something nature lovers cannot afford to miss.
Other such places of interest near Gavi include Kuttikanam, Peermedu, Vandiperiyar and cardamom factory visits
How to Reach

Nearest railway station: Kottayam, about 114 km away.

Court filings in the Samsung vs. Apple patent battle show that the Korean manufacturer appears to be working on an extra-large tablet with a Retina display and LTE connectivity.
Codenamed "P10," this tablet would reportedly have LTE connectivity, 2560 x 1600 resolution, and a pixel density of 256 ppi, according to The Verge. This is much bigger than the iPad tablet, which currently features a 9.5 inch screen, 2048 x 1536 resolution, and a pixel density of 264 ppi.
Samsung is one of the largest suppliers of LCDs and AMOLEDs, so it makes sense that it would look to get into the world of Retina display for its Galaxy line.
