How to play Java games on Samsung Galaxy Y

A lot of people probably(like me)have always wanted to play their good old java games on android mobiles that they used to play on their past phones. As you all know Android mobiles just can't open java apps when you tap on it. So in this guide i will teach u hoe to play java games on our Sansung Galaxy Y.

Your device has to be rooted before you install the Java application. Click here to learn how to root your device.

First lets start off by Downloading Jbed.zip and put it directly in SD card. Click here to download from 4shared.com
Now download CWM.zip ( ClockWorkMod Recovery) and put it directly in SD card. Click here to download from 4shared.com
Now boot into recovery mode by holding Up Volume Key+Home Button+Power Key.
Please Note in Recovery mode you can use only Volume Up for Up , Volume Down for Down, Home button for Selection.
Once your here select "apply update from sd card".
Look for CWM.zip and press home button after you have selected it. You will now boot into CMW recovery mode.
After your here go to "install zip from sd" then select "choose zip from sdcard". this will let u browse through your sd card.
Look for jbed.zip in the sd card and press home button to apply it. It will then ask you if your sure, Choose yes
After installation, it should say "Install from sdcard complete". Then press the power button once to go back to the previous menu, then choose Reboot phone.
After you have turned on your samsung galaxy y, look for the app called "java". The installation is complete.
This app does not support portrait games, try to install landscape ones.

What is MeeGo!!?things you should know about MeeGo

Nokia's Maemo and Intel's Moblin operating systems have been merged to create MeeGo. MeeGo is a Linux-based free mobile operating system project. Primarily targeted at mobile devices and information appliances in the consumer electronics market, MeeGo is designed to act as an operating system for hardware platforms such as netbooks, entry-level desktops, nettops, tablet computers, mobile computing and communications devices, in-vehicle infotainment devices, SmartTV / ConnectedTV, IPTV-boxes, smart phones, and other embedded systems. MeeGo is currently hosted by the Linux Foundation.

History

It was first announced at Mobile World Congress in February 2010 by Intel and Nokia in a joint press conference. The stated aim is to merge the efforts of Intel's Moblin and Nokia's Maemo former projects into one new common project. According to Intel, MeeGo was developed because Microsoft did not offer comprehensive Windows 7 support for the Atom processor.

Things u should know about MeeGo

Ø MeeGo is a Linux-based software platform that has been created from Intel's Moblin platform and Nokia's Maemo platform. MeeGo isn't just a direct competitor for the likes of the iPhone, Android OS-powered devices, Windows Phone 7 Series, Palm's webOS and RIM's BlackBerry platform. It's aimed at a much broader range of applications. The Linux-based MeeGo platform is intended to power multiple types of devices including smartphones, netbooks, tablets, connected TVs, mobile computers and in-car entertainment systems.

Ø MeeGo isn't going to replace Symbian as Nokia's smartphone platform of choice. Nokia's executive vice president of devices, Kai Oistamo, said at the MeeGo launch that the two operating systems would continue to co-exist. MeeGo will offer a range of rich online and computing experiences with rich graphics, multitasking and multimedia capabilities.

Nokia's Maemo platform was recently given an airing on the Nokia N900 smartphone.

Ø The MeeGo platform will be developed as an open source project hosted by the Linux Foundation. MeeGo should be attractive to application developers as it uses the Qt application development environment, which enables developers to write applications just once and easily deploy them across variety of platforms and devices.

Ø MeeGo applications for Nokia devices will be sold through the Ovi Store for Nokia, while Intel's AppUp Center will handle applications for Intel-based MeeGo devices.

Core OS

The MeeGo Core operating system is a Linux distribution, drawing on Nokia’s Debian-based Maemo and Intel’s Fedora-based Moblin.MeeGo is one of the first Linux distributions to use the Btrfs file system as default, and uses RPM repositories.

Nokia N9 Smart Phone with MeeGo OS

Jolla develops and sells smartphones based on the MeeGo platform. It continues the work started by Nokia and produced the Nokia N9 but needed a new company after Nokia has decided to abandon MeeGo. The Jolla team was formed by directors and core professionals leaving Nokia's MeeGo N9 organisation, together with some of the best minds working on MeeGo in the communities. Jolla intends to announce its first smartphone product during 2012.

Well how good it would be when we could control any and everything with just one touch but, halt your imagination that time is too far so, live in present and the present is that touchscreens have just marked their successful commercialized beginning. This article is to give you the slightest idea of how a touchscreen works, more importantly to give a detailed idea of the various touchscreens technologies. To start with let’s describe what a touchscreen means for those who might be reading the term for the first time.

A touchscreen is an electronic visual display that can detect the presence and location of a touch within the display area. The term generally refers to touching the display of the device with a finger or hand. Touchscreens can also sense other passive objects, such as a stylus. Touchscreens are common in devices such as game consoles, all-in-one computers, tablet computers, and smartphones.

The History of touchscreen is marked by various individual scientists but not any organization in particular. E. A. Johnson was the first person to have such a vision; he not only published articles on capacitive touchscreens but also worked up ways to build them. Later Bent Stumpe of CERN with the aid of Frank Beck developed the first and only one of its types, the capacitive touch screen. This was the time 1982 when Computers and Mobilephones itself were marking their existence. Thus, without making these devices a complex by introducing the touchscreen technologies it was decided to keep within. But, Hewlett Packard (HP) had something else in mind, the launched the first touchscreen model of PC’s named HP-150 and commercialized it worldwide. It was a great help at Kiosks, Banks, Ticket booths etc. Similar to the PLATO IV system, the touch technology used employed infrared transmitters and receivers mounted around the bezel of its 9" Sony Cathode Ray Tube (CRT), which detected the position of any non-transparent object on the screen. Parallel to it was the beginning of INTERNET which itself spread like virus but also made the technologies acknowledged to the world market.

TECHNOLOGIES:

There are a variety of touchscreen technologies that have different methods of sensing touch which are viz.-

Resistive Touch
Surface Acoustic Wave
Capacitive Touch
Infrared
Optical Imaging
Dispersive Signal
Acoustic Pulse Recognition, technologies.

We will now discuss about each but first with the widely used ones.

I. RESISTIVE TOUCH:

It has two resistive (provides resistance) surfaces made out of Indium-Tin Oxide. These are metallically coated and have insulating spaces. On touching, compression takes place as shown in the above image leading to formation of a closed circuit. This is why gadgets with resistive touchscreens have to be pressed harder so that the contact remains intact and as the movement passes through the insulating spaces it analyses the direction of motion. It is most widely used due to its simple structure.

It again has two types:

1. Matrix (digital):

Striped electrodes on substrates such as glass or plastic face each other

2. Analogue:

Transparent electrodes without any patterning facing each other

Overview of the Position Management System:

There are two Parallel Sheets

If there is no pressure applied – Electronically separated

If applied pressure – Impedancebetween the two sheets is lowered at the touch point.

Measurement of X & Y Coordinates:

Top sheet carries a voltage gradient by applying a voltage between the electrodes of top sheet

Bottom sheet serves as a slide in a linear potentiometer.

Linear potentiometers are sensors that produce a resistance output proportional to the displacement or position. Resistance value changes with rotation of screw.

your ipad can't play flash videos on the web. Mine can. Your copy windows needs constant updating and patching and protection against viruses and spyware. Mine is always clean and always up-to-date.

No, i am not some kind smug techno-elitist; you can have all of that, too.
All you have to do is sign up for a radical ipad service called OnLive Desktop Plus.

Its a tiny app - about 5 megabytes. What you open it, you will see a Standard Windows 7 desktop, right there on your ipad. The full, latest version of word, excel , powerpoint, Internet Explorer and Adobe Reader are set ur and ready to use on installation, no serial numbers, no popup balloons nagging you to update this os that. It may be tin least annoying version os Windows you havoc ever used.

That's pretty impressive but not as impressive as what's going on behind the scenes. The PC that's driving your ipad windows experience is sign, in fact, a farm of computers at one of three data centers thousands of miles away. every time you tap the screen, scroll a list or type on the keyboard screen, you're sending signals to those distant computers. The screen image is blasted black to your ipad with astonishing little lag.

There's insane amount of technology being this stunt...10 year in the making, according to the company's founder.OnLive desktop builds on company's original business, a service that lets hands play high horsepower video games on Macs os low powered windows computers like netbooks.

The free version of tin OnLive desktop service arrived in January. It gives your word, excel, power point, a few basic windows apps and ready 2 gigabytes of storage.

Plenty of apps give you stripped down version of office on the ipad. But OnLive desktop gives you the complete widows office suite . In word, you can do fancy stuff like tracking change com high end typography. In power point, you can major slide prays that the ipad projects with all of the cross fades, zooms and animations intact.

Thank to Microsoft's own touch pack add-on , all plenty of this works with touch screen gestures. You can pitch and spread two fingers to zoom in and zoom out office documents. You low use widows impressive handwriting recognition to enter text. You can flick to scroll through a list.

Instead of clicking tin torn on things, you bay simply tap, although a styles works better that a finger tip; many of the windows controls are too tiny for a finger to tap precisely.

OnLive desktop is seamless and fairly amazing. And fast; on what other pc eyes word open in one second?

Apple may introduce the iPhone 5 at WWDC

Many of the Apple rumours nowadays revolve around the upcoming iPad 3. But now and then, a few trickle in about the iPhone 5. The last bit of information about Apple’s upcoming flagship handset was that there was indeed a launch that would be held, alongside the 4S, but it got canceled due to problems in Verizon’s 4G LTE connection. As for the design of the iPhone 5, which is by far the biggest talking point, it was believed that the handset would feature a tapering design that has an aluminium back plate and is believed to come in nano-chromatic colours. The latest bit of information comes from 9to5Mac, where a reliable source from within Foxconn states that Apple is readying production of the iPhone 5.

The report states that the source has revealed that there are a number of sample devices at the factory and hence it is impossible to know, which one is going to be the final version that will be released. However, there are a few consistencies between all the devices. All devices in the factory that are doing the rounds have displays that are larger than 4 inches. At least one of these displays are made by LG. Contradictory to many reports in the past, none of these handsets feature the tear drop design and all of them are wider and longer, but symmetrical in thickness. As expected, neither of the devices has the same form factor found on the iPhone 4 or 4S. It would make sense for Apple to ditch this design, as they have used it now on two generations of their iPhones. The source goes on to say that neither of these devices may be the final version and it could change at any given time.

The report mentions that this was the same source who informed them that Apple would be launching the iPhone 4S and not the iPhone 5, last year. Also, reportedly, if Apple is gearing up for production now, one should expect the handset to be launched by the time of Apple’s WWDC event, which takes place during the middle of the year.

Apple iPhone 4S vs. Samsung Galaxy S II: Which Is the Greatest?

If you're new to the smartphone world, you may not know which way to go. Do you want Apple's iPhone 4S, which seems to be the "it" device that everyone wants, or do you want "the" high-end Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S II?

AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint all offer almost identical versions of the iPhone 4S. The situation is abit more complicated with the Android device -- the Galaxy S II series includes the Galaxy S II and the Galaxy S II Skyrocket from from AT&T, theEpic 4G Touch from Sprint, and T-Mobile's version of the Galaxy S II. These are all basically the same device, with minor differences between the carrier-specific versions, except that the Skyrocket is equipped with 4G LTE.

Build & DesignWhen it comes to design, I say the iPhone 4S takes the prize. It's small, it's sexy, and everyone knows exactly what kind of phone you have when you pull it out. The Galaxy S II devices aren't exactly ugly, but they aren't exactly head-turners either, suffering from a "me too" design sensibility of all-black devices without any real flair.

Both the Apple and the Samsung handsets are dominated by large displays that cover the front of the device. They also have the same basic button and port layout, though the buttons on the iPhone 4S are slightly larger and easier to operate.

Display and KeyboardThe iPhone 4S is equipped with a 3.5-inch IPS display that has a resolution of 960 x 640 at 326 ppi. It has also been treated with an oleophobic coating designed to repel fingerprints, but you'll still be cleaning off the display pretty frequently.

The various Galaxy S II devices have larger displays than the iPhone 4S, measuring 4.3-inches to 4.5-inches, with a resolution of 800 x 480 (WVGA). They look very good, and being larger than the iPhone they offer more immersive entertainment, but they don't have that same high resolution, razor-sharp clarity.

The Galaxy S II devices do have an edge when it comes to outdoor viewing, because they are equipped with Super AMOLED Plus screens that are capable of amazing brightness. They almost cause your eyes to bleed at the highest settings. The iPhone 4S is also viewable outside, but isn't able to compete on sheer brightness.

When it comes to text entry, you'll be using a virtual keyboard on either of these smartphones, as none of them have a physical keyboard. They're pretty comparable across the board, though the Galaxy S II models have larger screens and therefore slightly larger virtual keyboards.

PortabilityThis is pretty much a dead heat, with the iPhone 4S being slightly smaller than most versions of the Galaxy S II series, but also slightly thicker. The Apple handset is more pocketable since it's smaller overall, measuring 4.5-inches tall, 2.31-inches wide, and 0.37-inches thick, but it is slightly heavier than the Galaxy S II phones since it weighs in at 4.9 ounces.

The Galaxy S II versions vary slightly in their exact measurements, but they are generally larger overall than the iPhone 4S. Sprint's Epic 4G Touch, for example, measures 5.1-inches tall, 2.7-inches wide, and 0.38-inches thick. For those looking for a smaller option, AT&T's Galaxy S II is 4.96-inches tall, 2.60-inches wide, and 0.35-inches thick.

Features and Capabilities
The iPhone 4S is based on the Apple A5 chip, which is a dual-core processor, though the actual processor speed has not been released by Apple. Most reports peg it at 1GHz. It is super fast and responsive, though there's no way to directly compare it to the Galaxy S II phones since the same benchmark apps aren't available for the iOS and Android OS.

Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket from AT&T

The Galaxy S II phones from AT&T and Sprint have dual core 1.2 GHz processors, while the AT&T Skyrocket and the T-Mobile Galaxy S II Titanium have 1.5 GHz dual core processors. They all perform well and also have an edge when it comes to true multitasking, while the iPhone 4S has fast app switching and very limited multitasking (allowing apps to complete only certain tasks in the background when you switch).

When it comes to memory and storage, the iPhone 4S has advantages and disadvantages. Depending on the model you choose, it has more internal memory than any of the Galaxy S II devices, because it's available in sizes ranging from 16GB to 32GB. It does not, however, have any sort of memory card slot to add additional memory.

The Galaxy S II devices have 16GB of internal storage memory and also have a microSD slot that supports memory cards of up to 32GB in capacity. That means a top storage capacity of 48GB, less than the largest (and most expensive) iPhone 4S version, unless you want to deal with switching out the card on a regular basis. That would be quite a hassle, however, since the card slot is generally located in the battery compartment, and sometimes under the battery. For that reason, the iPhone wins when it comes to memory, assuming that the 64GB model is chosen.

Samsung Galaxy Tab may come with retina display

The new Samsung tablet is believed to have 11.6-inch screen, with a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution.

Samsung is preparing to unveil a new Galaxy Tab with retina display, which is regarded as the best so far. A website, quoting its sources, said that this will be an 11.6 inch tablet with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system running underneath.

Retina display is known for its high pixel density due to which the human eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels. Technically speaking, if the display produces images in about 300 pixels per inch, then it is known as retina display. At this pixel density, images look sharp on the display.
Retina Display currently is available on iPhone 4 where images are seen in 960x640-pixel resolution. The phone is available for Rs 34,000 in India. The next tablet from Apple, iPad 3 will also have retina display in them.
The new Samsung tablet is believed to have an 11.6 inch screen, with a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution, almost equal to retina display. It's also believed to come with 2GHz dual-core Exynos 5250 CPU and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The device is said to have a "special wireless docking mode" which will allow the users to enjoy gaming on HDTVs.

Top 5 iOS apps which work like paper

The iTunes app store has numerous notebook apps, which is very much evident when users search for the keyword "note" in the iOS app store search box. Since there are so many, one has to be very careful while choosing one. While some of these are paid, their alternative free versions are also available.

You can use these iOS apps as a replacement of paper.

Agendas (Rs 500)
Most users who have mountains of documents on their desk may use Agendas on their iPad to create interactive meeting agendas. You can then broadcast these to other iPads over WiFi network.

The best part with iPad is, users can get feedback from others which make sure the two way communication is complete.

Those who intend to use OneNote need a Windows Live account to work on it. It shows notes in a list just like a phone directory.

Exchanging cards is something we need to do regularly, but it is always helpful if users can exchange digital business cards with their business contacts, and the iOS app - Card Flick, does just that.

Using Card Flick, you can create a new card through the My Card tab. Users can start by choosing a theme, and then customize it as per their needs. Every business card will have a photo, name, position and company name. Other additional details which may be included are phone number, email, website, and tagline.

Sketchbook Pro (Rs 250)

The app Sketchbook Pro is good for those who are not designers but they want to draw. However, users may need some time to become familiar with the controls of the app.

Oxford Dictionary (Rs 1,500)

It has a clean interface with word list on the left. Users can either scroll through words or can just tap on the letters needed to get to the relevant word quickly.

On the right side, there is a section where users can see the definitions and examples of how the words are used are displayed. This section can also be resized as per requirement. From the top menu, users can access the history of their word searches, favourites and back and forth navigation arrows which take the users between words recently searched.

Intel Atom based smartphones coming next year

Intel, a chip maker has already tied-up with Google for Android based smartphones based on Atom processors.

Intel, world's largest chip maker, plans to bring smartphones based on its Atom processors. The smartphones will be based on Android operating system and Atom processor.

Speaking at the Intel cloud summit, R Ravichandran who is Intel's India and South Asia sales director, said, "Google TV, which uses Intel processors has already debuted. So are Ultrabooks and tablets with Intel processors. Next year, you will see smartphones with Atom cores make their debut,"
Atom based tablets are already available with as many as 35 companies were using the new platform in the first half of 2011 or later. Intel has already said that the devices wouldn't just be limited to Windows 7 or Intel's own MeeGo (Now dead) and would use Android as well.

Intel had announced the availability of its first Atom processor designed for smartphones and tablets in mid-2010.
The chip, which was earlier known as Moorestown, is now called Z600. It provides average 4-5 hours of battery life for cellular browsing or video viewing but over 10 days of standby and about 2 days of audio.
The chipmaker had also claims much better performance than a typical smartphone, with about 1.5 to 3 times more raw computing power as well as a GMA 600 graphics core that supplies more visual details through OpenGL ES 2.0 and hardware video acceleration. It can record video at 720p and play it back at 1080p. Z600 also supports Hyper threading, which means that it behaves like two cores in certain cases. In burst mode, the chip very briefly spikes performance when needed.
To keep the footprint small, Intel is using a full system-on-a-chip with the graphics and most other components built in the chip itself.

Intel is providing different processors to the OEMs (Original equipment manufacturers) - chips up to 1.5 GHz for smartphones and 1.9 GHz for tablets.

Notably, today even Quad core chips are now available for smartphones. It will be interesting to see how Intel manages to compete as a late comer to the space.

Google has already released the Android version optimised for x86 architecture (which is suitable for intel's processors), which means that smartphones using Atom processors are not that far off.

Tips and tricks for Android device owners

New users may feel lost seeing numerous options on Android, thus completely miss out on the fun part of Android.

Today Android is considered as number one operating system. There are so many things the users can do with their Android based devices that are not possible in handsets with rival platforms. However, the vast number of applications and features some time lead to confusion among users especially the first timers.

Let's start by talking about the home screen customisation options available to the users. Most options do not require the users to jailbreak the phone and are applicable to almost any version of Android phones.
Whenever users need to add any widget to the home screen, they just need to hold their finger in open space and when the pop up menu comes up, they need to choose widgets. Users can use their home screen real estate to the maximum by making optimum use of the widgets. Also, users must sort out the best widgets for them.

Users can also bring their favourite sites to the home screen by simply long pressing the site in the bookmarks and then by choosing the option "Add Shortcut to home".

There are certain Android utilities which allow the users to browse through the phone just like computer. One such utility is Astro, which is a file management tool and allows the users to move and delete files as per their convenience. For cutting and pasting, users just need to long press on a text input field.
To open apps, users also have the option to set their own hotkeys. For this, they can go to main settings menu, choose applications and then select Quick Launch. If the on screen keyboard comes up at any point of time and the users don't want it, they can swipe the keyboard downward to make the keyboard vanish.

Should you upgrade to iPhone 4S?

A few basic reasons to be pondered upon before considering to buy the new iPhone 4S in India.

Apple quietly announced the much awaited iPhone 4S in India through Airtel and Aircel mobile operators. Several thousand jaws dropped. Not at the iPhone 4S but at its price — Rs 44,500 for 16 GB, Rs 50,900 for 32 GB and Rs 57,500 for 64 GB. Indeed, it is jaw-dropping for the slightly bumped improvements and a half-step upgrade to the existing iPhone 4. So if you already have an iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4, and are thinking of upgrading to an iPhone 4S, here are a few things to think about.

Design
iPhone 4S comes with the same design as the iPhone 4, . and has the same high-resolution 3.7 inch Retina display with 960 x 640 pixel resolution and 326 ppi density. There's no change in the physical design either. The device hasn't become slimmer or lighter. The lack of a bigger display was disappointing. It's likely that the display hasn't been increased in size because that would mean that developers would have to make their apps compatible with the new resolution.
However, rival are getting slimmer, lighter and sporting bigger displays with advanced panel technologies supporting highest possible resolution of up to 720p HD.

Hardware
Apple has packed a new dual-core A5 mobile processor, which was used in the iPad 2 tablet. Despite having a dual-core processor the phone has been clocked at 1 GHz and there is no mention of the significance of the second core. Although it does offer twice the computing muscle, not many applications can actually make the best of both cores. Apart from that, the graphics chip — PowerVR SGX543MP2 is currently top of the line and comes with two cores. The graphics chip does offer seven times more performance while playing games and also loads apps faster, though the RAM configuration remains unchanged.

The iPhone 4S comes with a dual-mode network which means it supports GSM as well as CDMA. Though Apple still hasn't joined the Near Field Communication bandwagon, the company has compensated that with a Bluetooth 4.0 chip which consumes much less power compared to its predecessors.
Apple has, in all fairness, packed an 8 megapixel camera that can record 1080p full HD video, and is a step higher than the iPhone 4's 5 megapixel snapper. The iPhone 4S has a front facing camera for Face-Time but it still isn't possible to make video calls over 3G. If one is looking just at the camera, then the smartphone is more expensive than a good quality DSLR camera.

The bottom line is that despite the new hardware promising better performance, the display isn't big enough to make the best of it. Meanwhile, the competition has dual-core processors with higher clock speeds with larger but poorer quality displays.

Software and services
Apple did give serious attention to the needs of its consumers by rolling out the iOS 5 update. The age old MobileMe service was revamped and launched as iCloud offering 5 GB of online storage. However, the issues related to iOS 5, such as the volume and the end call button acting weirdly, continue to exist. Even the popular virtual assistant service Siri is causing trouble for users outside the United States.
Technically, Siri is perfect except for its sentence formation and its bad phonetics that cause weird results. As of now the service is in beta, and Dan Kittlaus, the creator of Siri, recently left Apple. Besides that, ever since the iPhone 4S was released its software has suffered from several SIM failure issues that continue to exist.

Battery
Battery life has taken a massive hit with the iOS 5 update. Also, the standby time of iPhone 4S has come down to approximately 200 hours, compared to the 300 hours of standby time on iPhone 4, though talktime has been improved by one hour in the new edition. Sure the hour more of talking time over 3G networks is welcome but the standby time foresees massive fall.

Price
In a price-sensitive country such as India, several consumers consider the price of a smartphone before buying it. The all time high prices of iPhone 4S have left a number of existing iPhone 4S users wondering. Sure, the iPhone 4S does have more graphics punch, a full HD recording camera and a half-baked Siri assistant, but all that isn't worth more than Rs 10,000. Relative to the competition, iPhone 4S certainly falls short in terms of hardware and specifications, if one were to ignore its apps. Also, there are no subsidised data plans for handset buyers, but only a promise of the savings they will see after a year or two. Clearly, the iPhone devices don't get to enjoy normal 3G data plans like other devices do.

Finally, the decision lies with the end consumer whether it is worth buying an upgraded phone that looks almost like iPhone 4, has battery issues, software issues but offers 1080p HD video recording.

Galaxy S2 to get Android ICS 4.0

Samsung UK has confirmed that Galaxy S2 will be getting the latest Android version, Conforms.

Samsung will upgrade its Galaxy S2's operating system to Google Android Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS).
"The Galaxy S II will be receiving ICS, but there are no dates confirmed as yet. We will keep you posted," Samsung UK announced through Twitter.

Google has already unveiled the Source code of its latest Android 4.0 OS. With the source code available now the developer and device manufacturers are expected to work faster than earlier. So it can be expected that the Android ICS update may arrive for Galaxy S2 very soon.

Along with Samsung both LG and Sony Ericsson have also revealed the list of devices that will be receiving the Android ICS 4.0 update. While Samsung has confirmed the availability of ICS for a single device, others have released the list of compatible phones long time back.

With so many fast and ICS compatible devices like the recently announced Galaxy note and the Galaxy W in their kitty, Samsung is expected to include a lot more smartphones but when will the names be disclosed still remains a mystery.

Google has combined the best features from its Gingerbread for smartphones and Honeycomb for tablets to give a fresh look with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Chronologically numbered as the Android 4.0, the new ICS update brings fresh look and feel in its revamped user interface.
ICS will have new resizable widgets with which users can set up widgets for mails, counters, feeds, updates and lot more.

In Android 4.0 ICS users would be able to make the best of lockscreen since the ICS has made notifications tray accessible even when the phone is in locked mode.

Also the lockscreen will have a shortcut to camera app. Notifications tray has gone through a revamp and will have five different toggle switches at the top. Under that, there would be music player controls that will act as shortcut to manage the music playback. Besides that, the notifications tray will let the user remove the notifications individually by simple finger swipes across the screen.

Launcher (bottom bar) would also be customizable as users can now pin their favorite bunch of contacts or short cuts on it.

The On-Going Samsung vs Apple Deathmatch

All right, the two corporations are not, in fact, stripped to the waist and slugging it out in a Mad Max style duel, though that would certainly be entertaining. They have been at it again recently though, with the latest round in their no-holds-barred legal battle. Apple and Samsung have been at each others throats in the courtrooms as well as the consumer electronics showrooms since April 2011.
Apple has something of a history of vigorously defending what it perceives as its intellectual property, to the point at which it argued last year in a patent infringement case against HTC that a former Apple engineer might have been “inspired”, while working at Apple, and somehow used that inspiration in the creation of HTC devices. Motorola and Apple also sued each other last year. It’s not for us to decide whether Apple have a right to restrict which other companies can make smartphones, or more accurately, how iPhone-like those other smartphones are allowed to be. The courts will decide those things.
This year’s spat with Samsung is definitely getting ugly, hence the deathmatch analogy. Samsung supplies Apple with components for its products, but Apple thinks Samsung’s own tablets and smartphones are too close to iPads and iPhones. Not just too close for comfort, but too close for the law to allow – Apple has claimed in several countries that Samsung’s designs infringe in Apple’s intellectual property, notably its patents (these will usually be specific design or engineering choices, such as the way a touchscreen responds to the user) and its trademarks and trade dress (basically the look and feel of the products involved).

This resulted in the Galaxy Tab 10.1 being banned across Europe in August, but the ban was eventually restricted to just Germany. A similar, ongoing case in the USA also names several of Samsung’s smartphones, though, potentially leading to phones being taken off the shelves if the case is found in Apple’s favour. Some Galaxy phones such as the Galaxy SII have also been removed from sale in the Netherlands.
Samsung has counter-sued Apple, claiming various patent infringements, in Japan, Korea, and Germany, and more recently, just after the iPhone 4S was released, in France and Italy. Whether Samsung thinks it can win or not, it is likely to do some damage to iPhone sales, even if it only gets a temporary injunction while the court case is in progress.
The latest round in the battles sees Apple successful in upholding another Galaxy Tab 10.1 ban, this time in Australia. Samsung do not seem too confident of reversing the decision any time soon, and are believed to be considering making changes to the 10.1. However, they have now sought an injunction against sales of the iPhone 4S in Australia and are also trying to gain access to the iOS 5 source code.
What is at stake here is the very future of smartphones. At one extreme, a clear victory by Apple could make other companies very wary of launching products that are even similar to the iPhone, for fear of a lawsuit. That could strangle competition, giving the iPhone even more of a solid lead in the smartphone market than it already has, because so many of the iPhone’s features are regarded as central to the smartphone experience. At the other extreme, a clear victory for Samsung could lead to a dilution of difference in the market, with new manufacturers simply churning out iPhone copies under different names. We can perhaps hope for a middle ground, of compromises from Samsung and acceptance of those compromises from Apple. Even changing the look of the Samsung devices so they no longer even faintly resemble Apple’s distinctive look may be enough.

Google launches Music Store

Google Music users will have access to 20,000 songs. They'll get a free song a day and will be able to buy tracks or albums from a collection of 20,000 songs.

Google has launched its own Music Store by partnering with three big music labels and it is currently accessible in the US. The Google Music service was available previously only in beta but now its mainstream version is also live.
Google Music has a library of over 20,000 songs. Apart from offering music, it links to Google+ so that people can share songs they've bought with their friends.
Google Music Store members will get a free song everyday. They'll be able to store these free songs in the cloud, and stream them to their mobile phones or web browsers. Google has tied-up with Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, EMI and other independent labels.
Based on the music in your library, the songs you listen to and have purchased, Google Music Store will recommend to you similar artists and songs. The store will compete with Amazon MP3 Store and Apple iTunes.
Google Music Store also has Artist Hub where musicians can sell tracks without having to sign up with a music label, and they'll receive 70 percent share on sales.

RIM announces BlackBerry Curve 9380, Bold 9790

Canadian handset maker Research In Motion has announced its two new devices — BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380. Both the devices will come armed with the new BlackBerry OS 7.
"The BlackBerry Bold 9790 is the latest addition to the Bold series taking its place alongside the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 smartphones running the new BlackBerry 7 OS," the company said in its official blog.
The Bold 9790 has a 2.44 inch display that will support 480x360 pixel resolution in 4:3 aspect ratio. In terms of physical design, it appears to be the cross-bred product of Bold 9700 and the BlackBerry Torch 9850.
Despite having a 2.44 inch, the Bold 9790 will feature a touchscreen interface which makes it similar to the Nokia E6 that has 2.46 inch touchscreen and also the BlackBerry Bold 9780 with 2.44 inch display. Obviously, the Bold 9790 will come with BlackBerry 7 OS and will also support Near Field Communication.
Under the hood, this smartphone sports a powerful 1 GHz processor, a whopping 8 GB of memory and a 5 MP auto-focus camera. It will also come with the Near Field Communication (NFC) which will allow users to read smart tags on signs and posters, and connect with other NFC enabled devices — all with a simple tap.
Recently RIM had announced a price hike in select BlackBerry 7 OS running smartphones due to the Rupee-Dollar fluctuations taking place.

BlackBerry Curve 9380
It is the first BlackBerry Curve smartphone to sport a touch screen. Besides, it will also come with new technologies such as NFC and Augmented Reality.
The 3.2 inch screen will support 480x360 pixel resolution with 4:3 aspect ratio and has 189 pixels per inch. The smartphone also features BlackBerry's Social Feeds application, which ties all of your social networks together into one place. With Social Feeds you can update each of your social networks at once, and new messages from your friends pop up at the top of the screen so you can check them quickly and easily.
Besides, it has a 5 megapixel camera.

Difference between iPhone 4S and iPhone 4

Simply stated, the iPhone 4S owners will find it easier to roam between countries which are predominantly GSM network country and those places where CDMA networks are prevalent. The faster A5 dual core processor will make it powerful device, with a claimed battery life of 8 hours. Last, but not the least is the Siri personal assistant which may prove to be quite an attraction for the users. The screen size in both the phones is 3.5 inches with 640x960 retina display.
About the RAM, a website has claimed it would be 1 GB for iPhone 4S but we didn't find supporting evidence on the Apple website. The iPhone 4 has a RAM of 512 MB only.
